I am a cheerful and proactive student with a strong interest in society, sustainable fashion, and healthcare innovation. I am currently pursuing a double bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design and Biomedical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology.
Driven by the ambition to create sustainable, accessible and meaningful solutions, I aim to combine creativity, technology and research to design products that positively impact people and society. I am particularly interested in the intersection of healthcare, wearables and textile-based design. An example of this can be found in my Final Bachelor Project for Industrial Design: Breathing New Energy.
Alongside my studies, I enjoy doing sports such as tennis and running, sewing my own clothes, and spending time with friends and family.
Vision
"Create designs in which inclusive, durable, and caring textile-based technologies support human and environmental well-being."
As a designer, I envision a future where textiles and technology come together to support human well-being, both physically and emotionally, without exploiting people or the planet. I believe the innovative and meaningful ideas emerge from the intersection of disciplines, and for me, such ideas must be helpful, inclusive, and durable.
Textile technology holds the potential to give technical advancements a broader application, through clothing, comfort, and protection. I see inclusive design as a means to improve healthcare access, especially for underrepresented and marginalized groups such as poorer communities, women, and people of color. While total inclusivity may be impossible, I believe targeted inclusion can help create fairer systems and reduce inequality. My design focus lies in the medical sector, where I strive to create solutions that bring care to patients, contributing to a more pleasant healthcare experience.
Durability is a core design value for me, since it is an essential aspect that must be addressed to create a better future for our planet and human well-being. I aim to use recycled materials and develop repairable, modular designs that last to reduce waste and overproduction. This aligns with a post-humanist approach, where the impact on the environment, resources, and society is considered equally alongside human needs.
Aesthetics also play a key role in my work. I aim to design products that are both functional and visually engaging, since aesthetics are needed to create interest for interaction.
